TechCred is a State of Ohio program that reimburses employers for training their current and future employees in technology-focused skills. Global Lynx is registered with the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools (Registration No. 2298), one of the registration / accreditation authorities recognized under Ohio's TechCred training-provider guidelines.

Ohio's TechCred Program gives businesses the chance to upskill current and future employees to help them qualify for a better job in today's tech-infused economy. Businesses with successful applications may be reimbursed up to $1,000 per employee, per credential, when current or prospective employees complete an eligible technology-focused credential, with a maximum award of $30,000 per employer per application period.
Ohio employers of any size or industry may apply if they are registered to do business in Ohio, maintain a physical, non-residential location in the state, and employ eligible Ohio-resident W-2 employees. Employers must also meet applicable state reporting and tax requirements. Public entities and employers exempt from required unemployment insurance reporting are not eligible. Only one application per employer FEIN may be submitted per application period.
Employees must be W-2 employees (not 1099 contractors) with a verifiable Ohio address. Prospective employees may receive training before being hired; however, the credential earner must be an Ohio-resident W-2 employee of the applying employer at the time reimbursement is requested.

TechCred training must be provided by an eligible training provider registered or accredited through one of the organizations recognized by the program, including ApprenticeOhio, Ohio community colleges, Ohio not-for-profit independent colleges and universities, Ohio public universities or regional campuses, the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools, and Ohio Technical Centers. The credential must be industry-recognized, technology-focused, and completed in less than 12 months, or through a program of fewer than 900 clock hours or 30 credit hours. The list of eligible credentials is available on the credential list page. If a credential you want isn't already listed, businesses can choose "Credential Not Listed" during the application process and answer a few simple questions about it — a panel of experts will then review it for approval.
Getting started with the TechCred program is simple.
Yes, TechCred can be used to train both current and prospective employees. So, the employer can train that employee during the layoff period and be reimbursed, as long as the employee is on the payroll at the point when the employer requests reimbursement.
